Underground Storage Tanks
Ground Penetrating Radar ( GPR ) technology allows us to detect a range of underground targets including the following....
We perform surveys to a depth of up to 4.0m to locate;
- Underground Storage Tanks (UST's), Contaminated Land Fill and other sources of Sub-surface Contamination
- Ground Water
- Shallow Geological Features
- Voids and Tunnels

Below is an image showing 2 Underground Storage Tanks (UST's) from a service station which had been identified for upgrade. Preliminary inspections needed to be performed for the purpose of contamination sampling before any ground works could be started.
Contour Scanning Technologies were engaged to locate the underground storage tanks, including providing information on the correct number of tanks in the proposed work area, with their correct depth and orientation to each other recorded. This information needed to be precisely determined for the proposed drilling, which needed to be placed in between a number of the tanks to get accurate environmental information for the client.

Example Scan showing 2 underground storage tanks (UST’s) at approximately 0.9m depth below a concrete driveway
We can also provide detailed images of subsurface features using our 3D Modelling Software.
Below is survey grid 10m x 10m showing an area of contaminated fill at approximately 0.3m depth. 3D surveys can be adapted to a wide variety of projects, and can give that extra dimension of confidence to descision making with being able to identify areas precisely for further investigation, saving you time and money.
3D surveys can be performed on any size site, with multiple grids being able to be combined for larger projects.
